Cold Forming Technology
![]() What is Cold Forming? Cold Forming or Cold Heading is a manufacturing process for making precision metal parts. In the cold forming process, room temperature metal is formed or re-shaped under high pressure and pushed past its elastic limits into its desired new part shape. Corners are typically radiuses as the metal's surface tension prevents sharp edges from forming. Parts are consistent as each part is made in the same die as the part made just before it.; Cold Formed parts also have significant cost and technical advantages including very slow die wear. For more information about the advantages of Cold Forming see our article in the August 2003 issue of Machine Design Magazine "Banging out Tiny Little Parts" |
![]() Deringer-Ney's Marshall Facility has been manufacturing quality Cold Formed parts for over 30 years. We have over 100 cold heading machines, ensuring sufficient capacity to produce cold headed products in a clean and secure facility. No order is too large or too small. We are comfortable working in miniature with diameters less than 0.010 inch. We work with a wide variety of metals from copper alloy, steels and precious metals; we also use cold heading to manufacture Electrical Contacts.
