Analytical Lab Tech,  Bloomfleld, CT
 

The Analytical Lab Technician is responsible for testing and documenting the chemical composition and mechanical properties of various alloy samples.  These alloys are used to make electrical contacts and wires, dental implants, medical implants and tool components.  

Duties Include:

  • Prioritize workload to ensure a timely analysis of all samples.
  • Maintain sample identity at all times.
  • Prepare samples and conduct mechanical tests (primarily hardness and tensile tests) in accordance with work instructions or in accordance with directions specified by engineering, R&D, or process metallurgy by customer request.
  • Verify test results with alloy or customer specifications ensuring the results are correctly determined to be passing or failing and enter test results accurately into the lab database.
  • Correctly maintain all documentation.
  • Perform housekeeping as required to ensure the lab is a clean and safe working environment.
  • Print Certificates of Analysis for Shipping Department train with the Administrative Lab Tech and serve as a proficient back-up as needed
    Assist with special projects as required.
    Cross train and conduct chemical analysis, primarily using XRF and ICP.
    Print Certificates of Analysis for the Shipping Department.
    Must be a conscientious worker.
    Must be able to prioritize workload and multi-task.
    Possess a working knowledge of MS Access, Word, Excel and other MS Windows based application software
  • Cross train with the Administrative Lab Tech and serve as a proficient back-up as needed
  • Assist with special projects as required.Cross train and conduct chemical analysis, primarily using XRF and ICP.
  • Must be a conscientious worker.
  • Must be able to prioritize workload and multi-task.

Training and Experience:

  • Possess a working knowledge of  Word, Excel and other MS Windows based application software.
  • A.S. degree in a science or engineering field or possess prior experience related to basic analytical lab techniques or metallurgical principles.
  • One year or more experience in the operation of mechanical testing equipment, especially Instron Universal Testers and hardness testing, is desirable.
  • Experience in wet chemistry techniques is a plus.
