Automation Technician - 3rd Shift,  Bloomfleld, CT

The Automation Technician serves as a build resource to engineering and is responsible for creation of automation related machinery.

Duties Include:

  • The automation Technician is responsible to build automated machinery as well as on going support to production floor for such machinery.
  • Build the project from start to finish including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, inspection devices and safety guarding.
  • Utilize machine tools (lathe, milling machine, surface grinder) to manufacture or modify machine components.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, repair and maintain automated machinery.
  • Design and build new components to improve existing automation machinery
  • Train associates to run and maintain machinery.
  • Serve as consultant to design Engineering for manufacturability of products.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of machine build, mechanical, safety guarding, and wiring techniques as well as working knowledge of industrial robots and their applications.
  • Working knowledge of PLC software, servo systems programming and industrial robot controller programming.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic nature.
  • Ability to use machine tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution and circuitry.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Training and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years machine building experience including mechanical assembly, wiring and pneumatics.
  • Minimum 3 years PLC programming, robotic systems and servo systems programming.
  • Minimum 3 years experience with vision systems and related components.
  • Minimum 5 years experience with machining tools.
