Buyer III, CT
 

As part of the Supply Chain Group, performs activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts and supplies.  Researches vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule and has the authority to purchase at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity and delivery.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Negotiate pricing for orders for goods and services;
  • Build and maintain partnerships with existing and future vendors;
  • Qualify vendors according to internal and external requirements and regulations;
  • Submit RFQ’s for estimating, program managers and estimating as requested; based on MRP results. 
  • Coordinate and advise Supply Chain Team at all locations;
  • Act as liaison with Manufacturing, Engineering, QA and suppliers to resolve supplier related issues;
  • Track and ensure credits are received for rejected inventory material and parts;
  • Estimate values according to knowledge of market price and determine method of procurement.
  • Match, review and break-down markets and forward supplier invoices to Accounts Payable;
  • Assist peripheral Deringer-Ney functions with questions related to purchased parts and services;
  • Back-up and assist location Buyers, as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel, required;
  • Strong organization skills and ability to focus on details, a must;
  • Working knowledge of MRP systems;
  • Effective and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, necessary for the performance of Buyer III duties.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous negotiation experience, essential;
  • Prior administrative experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • High School diploma, required.  Associate’s degree in business, preferred;
  • 5-10 years of related experience;
  • Professional Certificate, a plus.
