Screw Machine Operator / Inspector – Bloomfield CT
1st and 2nd Shift needed

 

The operator maintains the parts produciton on screw machines, while performing SPC inspections to ensure the continued production of quality parts

.Duties include:

  • Monitors the production of parts from all operating machines.
  • According to department quality documents, measures dimensional integrity of parts . The measurements are transmitted and stored in MeasureLink and used for identifying corrective measures necessary to maintain parts in tolerance.
  • Notifies set-up personnel of any adjustments or tool changes outside the scope of the operator’s capabilities.
  • Performs preventative adjustments to machine parameters to avoid the production of parts out of tolerance.
  • Racks and cleans all parts produced, completing all required paperwork, and ensuring the material identification through test number traceability.
  • Suggest ideas for continuous improvement.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Attains and prepares additional rod stock utilizing the department lathe.
  • Performs Final Inspection function in the absence of the department inspector.
  • Performs inventory transactions for issuing and removing tooling utilized on shop orders.
  • Performs periodic Cycle Count procedures to ensure the integrity of our tooling inventory.
  • Assembles shop packets including tooling, blue prints, and the shop order and travelers.
  • Maintains the file of department blueprints.
  • Performs the process of cleaning of scrap turnings generated by the screw machines.
  • Assists in the cleaning and traying of parts at the ultrasonic cleaning system.
  • Perform Rod changes as needed.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Knowledge of safe operation of  machines.
  • Ability to perform program offsets to maintain part integrity.
  • Functional knowledge of MeasureLink.
  • Ability to perform dimensional measurements utilizing Shadowgraphs, Micrometers, Calipers, Pin Gages, and Depth Gages.
  • Thorough understanding of the shop order and QAP requirements.
  • Ability to differentiate minute imperfections in the inspection process.
  • Understanding of specific customer requirements through the use of blueprints and item QAP’s.
  • Ability to maintain all documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of M2M functions as they pertain to inventory transactions and labor ticket entry.
  • Knowledge of and capability to utilize PC software as it pertains to the accumulation and storage of inspection data.
  • Capable of making dependable judgement decisions of quality aspects not related to quantitative measurement.
  •  Ability to communicate with and participate with team members.
  • Ability to work on more then one machine at a time. Take advantage of run-time to do other functions.

Training and Experience:

  • High school education
  •  Blue print reading. Understanding of Geometric Tolerance a plus.
  •  Capable of trigonometric functions.
  • Thorough understanding of customer requirements as they pertain to surface and dimensional differences.
  • Good communication skills.
