Senior Financial Analyst

 

Description:

The Senior Financial Analyst will provide FP&A support and analysis for the business units of Deringer-Ney Inc. The role will include the creation and enhancement of existing financial models, ensuring timely preparation of forecasts/budgets, providing cause of change explanations, and effectively communicating any issues or changes. The Senior Financial Analyst will play an integral role in supporting the short and long-term financial success of this business. The Senior Financial Analyst will work with the accounting & finance team as well as functional team members outside the finance organization to analyze and support business activities. The role will provide timely, relevant, and accurate financial performance data and analysis.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in preparation and analysis of annual budget and required forecasting and accept a team lead role for co-ordination of the processes
  • Maintain and develop various financial models and standard templates distributed for use by department heads during the planning processes, ensuring quality, accuracy, and focused analytic review
  • Prepare, load, and ensure accurate consolidation information is loaded into the  consolidation tool for forecast & budget data
  • Create, monitor, and analyze annual, quarterly, and monthly department spend against the financial budget, forecast, and prior year
  • Work to identify root cause for shortfalls v. budget, forecast, and prior year. Identifies, recommends, and helps implement corrective action plans as required
  • Assist in developing a standard monthly reporting package to communicate results, risks/opportunities, etc. to applicable department heads
  • Coordinate and execute mid-month and late month projections
  • Provide financial modeling and analysis for forward-looking financial and business-related projects
  • Assist with new product/business development process and work with Finance.
  • Ability to perform project work and financial analysis including business unit requests and assist as requested with ad hoc projects and analysis
  • Demonstrate appropriate understanding / working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls

Qualifications and Skills

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Highly self-motivated/detail oriented individual with strong organization skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret operating results and data and prepare concise, accurate, and timely reporting
  • Ability to assess range of outcomes and risk, evaluate opportunities, and present conclusions
  • Strong systems skills including ability to utilize Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other software as necessary
  • Ability to present financial data using detailed reports and charts
  • Confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information
  • Strong work ethic and sense of personal responsibility for work outcomes
  • Possess strong communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal)
  • Ability to work in a team environment, build strong relationships, and influence up and down in the organization
  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and multi task as necessary to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and lead process improvement

QUALIFICATIONS / PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Advanced user of excel.
  • Understanding of SQL tables and queries
  • 5-10 years of combined experience in Accounting and FP&A role
  • Integrated ERP system experience preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to use normal office equipment (scanner, printer, copier, computer)
  • Ability to travel domestically on occasion
  • Must be able to talk/hear/sit for prolonged periods of time
  • The work performed is conducted in a climate-controlled facility with moderate noise levels that are within OSHA limits.
