Tool & Die Apprentice, CT - 1st & 2nd Shift

 

The Tool & Die Apprentice will apply knowledge and instruction obtained from classroom studies of the machine trade to actual work applications.  The idea candidate is capable of doing simple machining.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Able to do simple machining
  • Familiar with and has used basic tool room equipment
  • Knowledge of Bridgeports, Lathes, and Surface Grinders a plus
  • Learn to manufacture quality parts while meeting production demand
  • Learn to self-inspect for quality of all parts manufactured, utilizing inspection equipment
  • Learn to perform machine maintenance and diagnosing machine problems with minimal supervision
  • Continuously practices efficient techniques and creativity

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works closely with Tool Makers
  • Maintains a clean and efficient work area
  • Follow all safety procedures

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Trade School, Machinist Training course, or worked as a machinist
  • Ability to prioritize workflow
  • Ability in the area of basic computer skills (Win NT 4.0, MS Office Suite)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Some experience in machine trade (i.e. Trade School, Machinist Training Course)
  • Preferably worked as a machinist
  • Willingness to continue schooling while working, to complete the 8000 hours state requirement for an apprentice
