Tool Maker - Bloomfield, CT 
1st, 2nd and 3rd Shift
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Capable of building and trouble-shooting high-speed progressive dies.
  • Capable of working with extremely small parts and thin stampings typically .003 thick or less material.
  • Capable of holding close tolerances on precision tooling, typically.0002 or better on a day to day basis.
  • Capable of setting up all Tool Room equipment such as Milling Machines,Lathes and Surface Grinders. 
  • Capable of interpreting and working to Engineering Drawings and standards.
  • Capable of performing Die maintenance and diagnosing tooling problems with minimal supervision.
  • Verfies and inspects toolng for capability, functionality, damage or wear and maintains or repairs as required
  • Evaluates reoccurring events to determine root cause and implements corrective actions.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works closely with Design and Project Engineers.
  • Trouble shoots Prototype Tooling as required.
  • Trains apprentices as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to understand Progressive Die Tooling
  • Applicant must have own tools expected to perform satisfactorily and achieve standard compliance 
  • Must have basic computer skills for maintaining database records related to die maintenance and change over notes
  • Should be capable of operating die trucks, overhead cranes and related material handling equipment safely.
  • ProtoTrack milling machine experience would be a positive.
  • Experience Grinding Carbide Punches and Dies a plus.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 4-Year state approved apprentice program or equivalent.
  • 5+ years Tool and Die experience.
