Electrical Contacts

At Deringer-Ney, we’ve been manufacturing electrical contacts since 1950. We’ve produced billions of silver nickel contacts, rivets, stampings, contact tape, welded, staked and brazed assemblies.  The electrical contacts we make are used in a wide variety of appliances, motors, thermostats, air conditioners, smart meters and numerous kinds of other devices.

Sliding Electrical Contacts

Our sliding electrical contacts are used diverse applications from every-day devices to those that require the utmost precision and reliability. Sliding contacts exist in many devices such as position sensors, slip rings, and potentiometers. Example applications are wind turbine slip ring brushes, Computed Tomography Scan gantry power commutation, video surveillance systems, and fuel level sensors. We have configurations to accommodate low voltage signals (millivolt) to medium current power (<100 amps).

Applications

  • Millivolt singals
  • Currents less than 100 amps
  • Rotating speeds up to 10’s or 100’s of thousands of RPM.

Typical Material

  • Paliney Alloys
  • Neyoro Alloys
  • Bi-metal material systems

  • Insert molded brush blocks
  • Bimetal brush constructions

Separable Connectors

Separable connectors that require a high level of performance in adverse environments rely on Deringer-Ney materials and manufacturing. Pin-and-socket, pin-on-flat, and cantilever beam are the most common connector configurations for us. These can be found in specialty cable and plug connections for aerospace, defense, medical, and adverse industrial environments. Our contacts offer durability for whatever number of cycles you need, across all operating conditions.

Leads / Lead Frames

Expertise in metallurgy and the manufacturing of complex precision metal components has led to a core competency of manufacturing specialty custom lead frames. These leads address factors such as facilitating assembly through the design of end terminations (barrels and clips), carrier frames, and insert molded support structures. Of particular importance in helping our customers design lead frames is our understanding of the attachment methods (laser welding, resistance welding, soldering, crimping, etc.) and the associated metallurgical considerations. Our team helps address needs including constructions where terminations vary from hermetic feedthrough wires, machined/stamped metal housings, and printed circuit boards.

Applications

  • Battery interconnection
  • Power bus bars
  • Neurostimulator interconnections
  • Cardiac pace maker interconnections
  • Electronics hardened against corrosive environments
