Automation Engineer – Bloomfield, CT

 

The Automation Engineer serves as a design resource to Engineering and is charged with creation of Automation and Autonomation related machinery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conceptualize the process from start to finish.
  • Design a process and its related machinery.
  • Provide complete detail drawings for machinery construction.
  • Provide purchase orders for required components.
  • Oversee the machinery construction process.
  • Troubleshoot and help install the machinery.
  • Train associates to run and maintain machinery.
  • Document any required changes to machinery.
  • Conceptualize manufacturing processes for future products.
  • Serve as consultant to design Engineering for manufacturability of products.
  • Improve current processes.
  • Provide cost estimates for automation projects.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design of small fixtures, gages, and tools.
  • Investigate new innovations to make more productive and cost effective processes.
  • Deal with outside component vendors.
  • Create component standards for machinery.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of PLC systems, pneumatic systems, robotic systems, linear motion systems, and vision inspection systems.
  • Strong mechanical design aptitude.
  • Knowledge of modern injection molding processes, stamping processes, assembly processes, and packaging processes.
  • Microsoft office skills.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Min. (2) year degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3-D CAD design and documentation experience.
  • Diverse manufacturing experience including molding, stamping, assembly, and packaging.
