Automation Engineer - Bloomfield, CT

The Automation Engineer serves as design resource to engineering and is charged with creation of automation and automation related machinery.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The automation engineer is responsible for the design of automated equipment and automated manufacturing processes

Conceptualize the process from start to finish
-
Design the process and its related machinery
-
Provide complete detail drawings for machinery construction
-
Provide purchase orders for required components
-
Oversee the machinery construction process
-
Troubleshoot and help install the machinery
-
Train associates to run and maintain the machinery
-
Document any required changes to the machinery
-
Conceptualize manufacturing processes for future products
-
Serve as consultant to design engineering for manufacturability of products
-
Improve current processes
-
Provide cost estimates for automation projects
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Design of small fixtures, gauges, and tools
-
Investigate new innovations to make more productive and cost effective processes
-
Work with outside component suppliers
-
Create component standards for automation machinery
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
-
Knowledge of PLC systems pneumatic systems, robotic systems, linear motion systems, and visual inspection systems
-
Servo systems
-
Strong mechanical aptitude
-
Knowledge of modern injection molding, stamping, assembly, and packaging processes
-
Microsoft Office
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
-
BS in one or more of the following fields
-
Mechanical Engineering
-
Manufacturing Engineering
-
Mechatronics Engineering (preferred)
-
Or equivalent work experience in a related manufacturing field
-
Hands-on knowledge of automation and tool design
-
4 years minimum experience in automation design and build
