CNC Machining Process Engineer and Programmer – Bloomfield, CT

 

The ideal candidate for the CNC Machining Process Engineer will have programming skills in Esprit, Parts Maker, or ProE. Vast knowledge of machining all types of material including steel, stainless steel, titanium, nickel, and aluminum is required. Knowledge of machining precious metals as well as experience in medical device manufacturing is a plus.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Creates programs used by the screw machines, CNC mills, 5 & 6 axis machining centers and 5 and 6 axis mill turns for the machining sequence in parts production.
  • Ability to optimize any existing production CNC program for maximum output.
  • Assists operators in performing first run set-up and test runs in the development of new or redesigned parts.
  • Develops new parts processes.
  • Experience in quoting machined parts.
  • Experience in machining small medical components in Stainless Steel and Titanium.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to write programs for the production of parts on the Swiss screw machines, VMC milling machines, wire EDM’s, CNC hole drilling, 5 & 6 axis mill turns, 5 & 6 axis machining centers, and CNC lathes.
  • Thorough understanding of machining process for the purpose of troubleshooting and correcting surface defects.
  • Thorough knowledge of best machining practices for all materials through application of proper tooling, speeds and feeds and techniques to yield maximum profitability.
  • Ability to perform dimensional measurements utilizing shadowgraphs, micrometers, calipers, pin gages, depth gages, Keyence, Vertex, and SEM.
  • Good communication skills and the desire to be a team player.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or on the job equivalent experience.
  • Blue print reading and understanding of GD&T.
  • Thorough understanding of customer requirements as they pertain to surface and dimensional differences.
  • Good communication skills.
  • 10 years programming experience.
  • Minimum 5 years machining experience.
  • Minimum 5-year set-up experience.
  • Operational knowledge of controllers for CNC mills, 5 & 6 axis mill turns, 5 & 6 axis mills, CNC lathes, and wire EDM. Swiss screw programming a plus. Computer skills in Microsoft Office, programming in Esprit (a plus) Parts Maker (a plus), Pro E (a plus). May use other software if needed.
