DESCRIPTION: 

The Information Technology Director establishes, plans, and administers the overall policies and goals for the Information Technology Department.  Responsible for analyzing the department needs and determining strategies to meet business objectives by modifying existing, or through developing new, information processing systems.  Manages the research and selection of IT equipment, applications, and supplies.  This position reports to the President and manages all I.T. department staff, infrastructure, software, and systems for Deringer-Ney’s global footprint.  Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for I.T. inclusive of budget/policies/procedures to support the functional hardware and software infrastructure.  The Director will manage and direct the company’s information technology operations, ensuring the department provides efficient and effective technical support services.

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES: 

  • Leads development and implementation processes for the organizations IT systems and department.
  • Overseeing technical projects in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develops and implements business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
  • Establishes efficiency and efficacy standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure.
  • Analyzes IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs.
  • Oversees security of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
  • Facilitates IT security audits or investigations.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
  • Coordinates multisite IT systems via enterprise resource planning (ERP).
  • Works with information technology staff to find solutions to manage business activities.
  • Supervises a team of workers, while working closely with management, external vendors and advisors.
  • Preparing financial budgets and presenting proposals for capital projects to senior executives.
  • Researching and selecting new products / Evaluate new technologies for competitive advantage.
  • Leading efforts to improve IT processes.
  • Solves real-world technology challenges.
  • Apply contemporary business principles integral to a high-tech organization.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Actively participants in the company Leadership Team
  • Develops and leads long range planning strategy and initiatives for the IT department.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple sites and work remotely with locations in various time zones is a requirement.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science required; master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • At least ten years of experience managing an IT department.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in latest technology for IT systems and management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough understanding of IT and practical applications to support the company’s goals.
  • ERP software experience required (preferably with Aptean M2M and Epicor E10).
  • Experience with the following technologies a plus:  VMware vSphere Enterprise Plus, VMware Horizons App Instance Virtualization, Kace SMA, Kace SDA, SonicWall Firewalls, Aruba switching and WAPs, EMC Unity SANs, Synology NAS, Pulse Secure VPN Appliances, PRTG, etc.
