Melter - Bloomfield, CT - 1st Shift

The melter role is responsible for operating melting and machining equipment to produce high purity castings of a consistent quality by following established procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Operates and maintains induction based melting equipment
-
Operates and maintains centrifugal casting equipment
-
Operates and maintains continuous casting equipment
-
Operates scales
-
Operates shaper
-
Operates lathe
-
Exercises care in handling and melting precious metals to minimize losses
-
Selects and installs appropriate crucible to maintain purity and quality of alloy to be melted
-
Regularly cleans and maintains an organized working environment
-
Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner while using necessary PPE
-
Works as an essential part of a team in a manufacturing environment
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Rolls chemistry test pieces and breaks down risers on the breakdown rolling mill

Grinds and sharpens shaper tools
-
Alerts superior when inventory levels reach set low amounts
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
-
Melting and/or casting
-
Arc welding experience also acceptable
-
Mechanical aptitude for understanding various motion systems and use of hand tools
-
Basic math skills: addition/subtraction/percentages, use of calculator for weights
-
Ability to lift 25 lbs and up to 75 lbs when required
-
Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, push, and pull
