Metals Accountant - Bloomfield, CT

REPORTS TO:  Manager of Operational Accounting

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Maintain all precious metals activity files, which include but are not limited to: daily metal transactions, forward-buy contracts, pool accounts and refining lots.
  • Prepare and control daily metal transactions with the bank and coordinate with AP for payment.
  • Coordinate and communicate metal inventory levels with customer service and production managers.
  • Prepare monthly pool account statements and daily metal position report.
  • Calculate monthly metal inventory turns and metal margin levels.
  • Participate in closing process by preparing reconciliations, booking journal entries and summarizing metal activities.
  • Coordinate regional refiners for refining lot representation and observe the process for accuracy.
  • Assist the Cost Accountant in various ad-hoc analysis to support management decision-making.
  • Collaborate with all levels of the organization on the ERP implementation.
  • Assist with developing process improvements.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate Degree in accounting, finance, business or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years’ of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be detail-oriented, well organized and proficient in excel (pivot tables/lookups).
  • Ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency and timeliness.
  • Capable of working independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Proficient with ERP’s systems; knowledge of Made2Manage or Epicor is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of staff as well as outside personnel.
  • Limited Regional Travel
  • Prior experience with banking and/or inventory tracking is a plus.
  • Be able to solve problems while recommending solutions.
