Production Manager – Screw Machine Department – Bloomfield, CT

 

The Production Manager monitors and coordinates all aspects of the department required to meet the scheduled delivery and quality of product, while constantly moving the department in the direction of continuous improvement.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Communicates with the sales department to establish and acknowledge customer deliverables.
  • Schedules job priorities on the screw machines to meet the customer requirements.
  • Efficient management of materials required to manufacture scheduled jobs to align with potential fluctuations in customer delivery requirements.
  • Maintains visual manufacturing data within the department to keep personnel informed as to priorities for the day, schedule of set-up, materials availability, production results and shop order status, and achievements toward goals.
  • Assesses and controls tooling inventory and scheduling replacement purchases as necessary through review of stocking level reports.
  • Contributes toward part and process development for continuous improvement and cost reductions.
  • Assures compliance to ISO requirements and internal programs such as NR and CAR documentation.
  • Develops the department capabilities through modification or procurement of equipment, training of staff, or hiring of qualified personnel.
  • Responsible for establishing and tracking key business performance measures.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Performing annual performance appraisals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships both within and outside the department.
  • Computer skills: MS Office, i.e., Project, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Ability to plan and execute the schedule.
  • Thorough understanding of shop orders and quality requirements.
  • Understanding of specific customer requirements through the use of blueprints and item QAP’s.
  • Ability to maintain all documentation requirements.
  • Willingness to learn new technology and methodologies.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of production planning and management experience within a screw machine and/or CNC machining department.
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or similar experience.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 desired.
