Purchasing & Receiving Clerk - Bloomfield, CT

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares purchase orders and sends copies to suppliers and to requesting department.

Determines whether inventory quantities are sufficient for needs, and orders more materials when necessary.

Contacts suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other issues.

Assists accounts payable in review of outstanding invoices to cross-verify the quantity and price reflected on the purchase order.

Prepares, maintains, and reviews purchasing files, reports, and price lists.

Compares pricing on the online purchases, such as MRO items and office supplies, in order to avail the best possible price.

Helps maintain the stocking levels of the supply closet.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
-
1-3 years of experience working in purchasing or receiving.

Must have strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate with suppliers.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and formulas.

Must be detail oriented and action oriented.
-
Demonstration of problem solving and critical thinking skills.
EDUCATION:
-
College degree in a business discipline preferred.
