Purchasing & Receiving Clerk - Bloomfield, CT

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares purchase orders and sends copies to suppliers and to requesting department.
  • Determines whether inventory quantities are sufficient for needs, and orders more materials when necessary.
  • Contacts suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other issues.
  • Assists accounts payable in review of outstanding invoices to cross-verify the quantity and price reflected on the purchase order.
  • Prepares, maintains, and reviews purchasing files, reports, and price lists.
  • Compares pricing on the online purchases, such as MRO items and office supplies, in order to avail the best possible price.
  • Helps maintain the stocking levels of the supply closet.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-3 years of experience working in purchasing or receiving.
  • Must have strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate with suppliers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and formulas.
  • Must be detail oriented and action oriented.
  • Demonstration of problem solving and critical thinking skills.

EDUCATION:

  • College degree in a business discipline preferred.
