Senior Screw Machine Set Up Technician – Blaine, MN


Duties include:

  • Develops and create New CNC programs for new products.
  • Responsible for "continuous improvement" on existing programs.
  • Creates Set Up documentation on all new products.
  • Assess and assembles all tool change-outs required to convert existing set up to the next job. This includes material handling equipment, collet and guide bushing.
  • Remove previous tooling and installs new tools according to the shop order BOM and the department set-up sheet
  • Verifies Current Rev level on all shop order documents
  • Up load both front and back programs per the item to be manufactured.
  • downloads both front and back programsfor any changes and deletes programs from memory
  • Performs any adjustments necessary to the program to meet all dimensional and surface requirements per the quality documentation.
  • Provides Inspection with First Piece samples upon completion of the setup
  • Monitors the production of parts from all operating machines during the course of the run to identify tool wear conditions
  • Work with the department engineer on part and process development for continuous improvement and cost reduction.
  • Performs machine clean out and maintains scrap material by type.
  • Performs any external set-up task available to minimize machine down time between setups.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform any and all operator functions on multiple machines.
  • Attains and prepares additional rod stock utilizing the departmental lathe
  • Responsible for reporting all tooling material and labor associated to the shop order.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Basic math skills.Blue print reading. Understanding of Geometric Tolerance a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of customer requirements as they pertain to surface and dimensional differences.
  • Ability to perform program offsets to maintain part integrity.
  • Functional knowledge of Gage Talker.
  • Ability to perform dimensional measurements utilizing Shadowgraphs, Micrometers, Calipers, Pin Gages, and Depth Gages.
  • Thorough understanding of the shop order and QAP requirements.Computer literate.
  • Ability to differentiate minute imperfections in the inspection process.
  • Ability to maintain all documentation requirements.
  • Capable of making dependable judgment decisions of quality aspects not related to quantitative measurement.
  • Knowledge of safe operation of CNC machines including all key functions of the control panel.
  • Good communication skills.
