Supply Chain NPI Specialist – Bloomfield, CT

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures alignment with the product deliverables for each phase and manages the Supply Chain deliverables.
  • Forms and leads cross-functional operations teams (comprised of Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Planning, and other members as required) to define sourcing strategies and sourcing plans for new products, including recommendations for new supplier selection & evaluation as part New Product Introduction.
  • Lead and influence supplier selection and guide alignment to a sustainable long term supply chain and manufacturability.
  • Serves as contact to the Supply Chain team to confirm supplier and track the key product milestones.
  • Interface between the Cost Estimating department and Supply Chain Management to to ensure long-term profitability of the business, through proper management and execution of our procurement strategy.
  • Develop a plan for an easier transition from NPI prototype to Production.
  • Provide a Make/Buy analysis support for the NPI team.
  • Align stakeholders regarding the critical activities in the identified scope.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Fundamental understanding of should-cost or cost allocation & recognizes opportunities to improve product design for cost/quality/delivery with early supplier involvement.
  • Develops and presents high level cost reduction opportunities.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to operate independent of day to day supervision.
  • Self-starter with the ability to adapt, critical thinking skills, and problem solve under pressure.
  • Contract/supply agreement negotiation experience.
  • Ability to summarize complex situations, and break down the resolution of issues into a list of tasks.
  • Ability to manage data and report progress and issues (Excel pivot tables, graphs, vlookup…).
  • Bachelors degree in Business or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of Supply Chain or Project Management experience.
